TOY: Shocks - Valving and stuff....
Well, I am sitting here tonight trying to pick out the new shocks for my
4Runner. I flexed the truck up real well and took measurements.
I am going through my Rancho catalog, and something has been bothering me. I
have always had a stiff ride on my '84, and I am wondering if it is due in
part to incorrect shock choice.
Are the shocks valved differently for different applications? Does a shock
that was meant for the front of a Suburban work fine on the rear of a Toyota
pickup, or does this give a stiffer than necessary ride?
I have picked out the ones that I want... partly because of length, and
partly because of application. I have chosen shocks listed for a the rear of
a Ford Ranger for the rear of the 4Runner... and from the rear of a full
sized Chebby for the front of the 4Runner.
I am definately going to go with RS9000s, so I will have some
adjustability.... but I can't help but wonder if it matters or not.
Any ideas? Anyone know someone in the engineering department at Rancho?
