Are you sure it's not the simple shifter bushing repair??
Why not get an exchange from Marlin??? (about what $700???)
You don't need any "major" special tools that can't be fudged up if you
have a shop press and a bearing plate and some time. The bearing/synchro
kits at the wholesaler here run $140 and as long as you don't need any
hard parts that will get you by.
