When I broke 2 Marfields, I felt nothing in the steering, just a clicking as I
drove in 4WD. I was able to finish the run w/ sparing use of 4WD plus drive
500 miles back home. I did have *a* spare joint (plus the hub socket and snap
ring pliers), but as it turned out I needed 2. Unless the housings have
grenaded, steering won't be affected in 2WD w/ the hubs unlocked.

You can check out my solid axle rebuild page for some suggestions. AllPro has
decent knuckle rebuild kit, first time around I bought the Toyota kit, but
you'll need the inner axle seal plus whatever bearings are shot.
