RE: TOY: Birfield Joint or Hub

I have to admit I am beginning to get extremely skeptical about this...

It seemed like a good idea at first -- I suspect that I may have worn wheel
bearings and truthfully I wanted to do it to see how everything worked in
there. My 80 Toyota is 2WD and I have never had any problems working on
that, I just recently replaced the entire front steering/suspension
assembly... (darn tie-rods get down right mean after 20 years of hot and
cold!). I didn't really know what I was doing but I had the resources to
figure it out and I learned a lot which is what I was after. Needless to
say I stay FAR away from anything in my Maxima's engine compartment! I
don't trust anything with spark plug wires as small as my speaker wires
(HEI).

Usually I have people around that can help out but most of my friends are
all "Rice Racers" and they just make fun of my obsession with "constantly"
working on my trucks. Another words this 4WD stuff is completely alien to
me.

Nevertheless, I am a glutton for punishment and I will undoubtedly break
what no man has broken before... :)

Usually I get by with my Shade Tree Mechanic manuals Chilton/Hayes... but
they make little to no mention of the birfield joints let alone how to get
to them without causing serious damage.

Oh well sorry to ramble, I have a tendency for that... I will probably do it
anyway, and no doubt your list and the advice I have gotten so far will be
key in keeping me from breaking anything too serious! ;)

(I did substitute one of the "inner" with "outer" by the way... I assumed
it was a typo. Thanks again!)
