hmmm... Scott Tate was one of the people that I talked to when searching
around for prices. I think if the price had been that much lower, I would
have gotten it from him! Is it possible that an '84-'85 bumper is a little
harder to come by, and therefore a little more expensive? I called about 5
places when I got mine... they all said that they did not stock them, and it
would be at least a month until they could get one!
I actually paid $700.... but after tax and shipping, it was close to $850.
It is definately a nice bumper, but I regret buying it. It sticks out too
far for wheeling.... and I have bashed it on a few rocks (thus the dent on
the underside). The front mounts also act as boulder finders way too often
for my liking. I would hate to see it I had it on my truck for another few
years as it has only been on there 6 months!
I was planning on installing it on my '86 4runner (daily driver), but I
can't without hacking it up. I really don't want to do that! I will be
building my own creation... hopefully a lot lower in profile and lighter.
I took it off of the '84 last night. The front of the truck now sits 3/4"
higher! Talk about a tank of a bumper! Maybe I should advertise it as the
cure for 4runner butt sag ;-)
