TOY: Birfield Joint or Hub

While messing around this weekend on a small trail I believe I may have done
something expensive to my Truck. Expensive meaning that I can hear things
grinding now.

I believe it may be the Birfield joint or a Hub Lock gave out on me but I am
unsure as to which one or either of these it is.

As soon as I came off the trail (ironically enough) the front end dipped and
seemed like it had severe resistance. I was turning to come off the trail
and was coming down a steep slope at the same time... I was planning to
unlock the hubs once I got out on the road but that became a necessity
rather than a preference. If the transfer case is in 4W-L or 4W-H then
there is no noticeable difference but as soon as you lock the hubs it starts
making the faint grinding noise or maybe it is just a severe vibration and
there is extreme friction (dragging) and a lot of lost power. Any thoughts
or suggestions would be appreciated... thanks.
