TOY: Drag link problem...

I moved the axle of my '85 4Rnr forward about 2" this weekend by
replacing the front main leaf from my Skyjacker spring pack with a stock
rear main leaf.
This worked out very well except for one problem. The drag link now hits
the front cross member when I try to turn left which makes for a much
wider turning radius than when I turn to the right. I have a ProComp
adjustable drop drag link which we've adjusted to be as short as
possible. It improved the turning radius to the left but still leaves a
lot to be desired.
Do I have to cut and weld the rod to make it even shorter? Any other
options? I know some of you have done this before so please advise.
Thank you...
