TOY: Marlin 4.7:1 tranfer case gears
I'm about to order some 4.7:1 gears from Marlin, but I wanted to ask a few
questions first. With the low 4.7:1 gears in a single transfer case, is 2nd
gear about what the old 1st gear is/was like?
Better yet, what are the gear ratios on Toyota transmission in a 1985
4-Runner with the 22RE (fuel injection)? That would help me determine all
crawl ratios in all gears.. right?
I'd rather stick with a single t-case with lower gears than go to a dual
t-case setup right now. However, I also want to get a little wheel spin when
needed on the muddy rocks in Clayton, Oklahoma.
Right now, I can climb most anything I need to with my 33x12.50 Super
Swamper TSLs and 4.88 gears with the stock t-case. However, it will bog down
a little if I'm trying to crawl too much on the larger rocks.
With the dual t-cases, I can always choose to go super lower or stay with
the stock ratio. I'm hoping the 4.7:1 gears will give me a near stock ratio
in 2nd gear. My extra t-case is one from an '89 truck that had both shifters
in the tranny. I'm assuming Marlin can help me convert this to the regular
style if/when needed.
Thanks,
Lance Morin
