TOY: Supra truck update!
Well, tonight was the big test, I took the truck out for a little spin
(about a 1/4 mile - it is still without a bed, fenders, and hood). It
passed with flying colors! Any doubts I had about the fuel system have been
put to rest! The Supra's Centerforce clutch has me grabbing second like
never before!
The truck accelerates VERY well, as someone once said - "it runs like a
raped ape!". It did not miss a beat, and I am definately happy with the
newfound power!
At the moment, it looks like I will be able to make it to the GSMTR, but I
still have to get the exhaust made, finish welding the shock towers in the
front, reinstall the hood, fenders, grill, bumpers, and the interior, and
chop about 8" off of the front of the bed! I am sure that I will definately
be cutting things close, and don't know if I will have time to get to the
little things (like wiring the winch up).... which means that I will not be
able to hit the "hardcore" trails :-(
I need to get with you New England guys to arrange a meeting place. I
imagine that you will be coming down 81S. If so, I could easily meet you at
the Carlisle exit and continue on down from there.
I am still a little leery of taking the truck on a 10 hour trip (probably
only hours after having finished slapping it back together), but from the
way it went tonight, I am positive that it will go the distance without a
problem!
Funny how I always find myself in last minute mode right before GSMTR... but
at least I know there are a few of you out there in the same boat ;-)
