TOY: issues with idle

Since the list seems to be getting a bit thin I'll throw some threads into
the pot.

What is up with this:

my 86Runner idles happily at 750+
until I set my blower (heater) at med-hi or hi speed.
or if I turn the headlights on..or generally start using electric things.

then the idle drops a bit, but never lower than 650-500
its not stalling the truck but it is noticable.
Whats up with this.

normal?
or tired alt?

keep in mind, previous owner directly routed an ampand a cd player into the
battery somehow, wther it was done in the "proper" way I'm not sure.
