Cheap body lift?

Ok, some of you will think this is nuts... but.. well, that is just me, right?

I am considering a body lift, but don't want much.  honestly, I think 1" is
too much.  So, I was noticing that the body mount bolts on my truck looked to
have enough thread on the stock bolts to maybe use the stock hardware and do
like a 1/2" body lift on the truck.  Sound kooky?

I was just gonna get some 1/2" steel flat bar and use that, nip the corners
so they would be octagonal in shape.  the local shop has some spare 3" body
lift pucks setting around, I may get them and cut them down to 1/2" lenghts
with the band saw.

I know some of you will think this sounds like a lot of work for just 1/2" of
body lift, but with just 1/2" I will honestly have the clearance I need, in
adition to finally trimming the front fenders to clear the boggers - and the
TJM front bumer will still look "right", and there will not be any clearance
issues with the shifters, etc.

I could go into more detail - just wondering what you guys think  :)
