Thanks for passing this on. However, did you bother looking at their actual
position? If you look at that page alone you may find them to be organized
militants. However, if you look at their actual position it is:

The Wilderness Society, dedicated to the
protection of America's wilderness and the
development of a nationwide network of wild
lands through public education, advocacy and
scientific research, does not seek to remove
ORVs from all public lands. We do, however,
aim to achieve balance in how our federal lands
are managed by working through local, regional
and national partnerships etc.

That actually sounds intelligent to me. They realize that it is a multiuse
environment that everyone should enjoy. Their position is that the federal
government is not regulating this at all and it is getting out of hand. There
will and should always be places where cars and trucks don't belong. I think
that off road use should be managed. Why not work with these people to show that
we can all enjoy the limited and shrinking public land that there is.

All I ever seem to hear from these lists is that the eco nazis are taking away
all our rights! I find it hard to believe that so many people think that 4 wheel
drives belong everywhere. Ever taken a walk in the woods with your kid or loved
one? Would you want a truck driving down the trail while you are enjoying
nature? Probably not. There's a time and place for everything.

It is important that everyone's rights are respected which is probably the
impetus behind your feelings. The way to make sure that your rights as a 4
wheeler are respected is to organize like they have and work with them to reach
mutual goals.

I for one am going to e-mail them and see how we can work together.

I'll let you know what their response is...

John.
