Putting FJ80 knuckles on a minitruck axle...

Just something I have been thinking about. I have this wide FJ80 axle
(62.8" WMF = Track). I know you can get your axle ball/knuckles cut off
and rewelding to correct for the pinion angle. Is it possible to take a
FJ80 ball/knuckle and weld it onto a minitruck axle? The FJ80 axles are
the same size as the minitruck axles. The minitruck axles might need
longer axle shafts to work with the FJ80 knuckles. I can cut down the
FJ80 axles for this and get them resplined. The other hassle is the
steering. The FJ80 has the tie rod behind the axle. A shorter axle might
mean that the tie rod arms might hit the diff. Ofcourse, you must use a
high pinion diff. It will sort of work out like a MiniFJ80 axle but you
get the benefits of huge birfields. Someone in our club is trying to do
this with a FJ40 front axle. I think I will wait to see if he can do it
first. He is a machinist too.
