latest 4.3 ltr swap info
Well, SLOWLY but surely I am continuing. The people I asked for help
and motivation before I bought the engine have not been much help. One
of the first things is I am doing this swap at work (after hours).
Well, most days I have bad days at work and do not want to stay after
and work on my truck. Also, I get to points that get me frustrated,
like the speed sensor, metric fuel line fittings on the fuel rail and
the exhaust manifold.
So, last week I have come up with a speed sensor idea that I need to get
to a machine shop to have a part made, hopefully this week. I still
have not figured out what I will do with the fuel lines yet. I dropped
the engine in today to check out the manifolds. I am using ones from a
'85 Monte Carlo-Simillar to the ones Jay Kopysinski used (they are
tubular). I got some tube from an exhaust shop and trial fit for the
frame/body/bellhousing clearance. While the engine was in I checked the
radiator clearance (borrowed a 2 core (1 inch core) aluminum one fits
very well. Now need to look for a shroud.
Back to the manifolds. Pulled the engine back out and now need to weld
the modified pipes together and mate one of the cylinder tubes to it.
Hopefully next weekend it will be dropped in for the last time and will
start working on the wiring.
