RE: transmission ?

Try running the trouble codes on the trans. Her's what my service manual
says:
1)Turn ignition switch and O/D main switch to on.
2)Connect TE1 and E1 terminals of DLC1. I have not done this before. Since
you have gotten codes before, I assume you know how to do this.
3) Read the diagnostic trouble codes. The O/D Off light will blink the code.
Normal is 2 times per second.
42=bad #1 vehicle speed sensor
61=Bad #2 vehicle speed sensor
62=Severed #1 solenoid or short circuit
63=Severed #2 solenoid or short circuit
64=Severed lock-up solenoid or short circuit
65=severed #4 solenoid or short circuit (#4 is in the xfer)
These will only show an electrical malfunction. A stuck valve will not
appear.

If you need more info, I can fax the pages of the manual to you. It is the
Toyota manual for 95, but the trans are the same. I am betting teh codes are
too.
