Limited slips-TRD & TrueTrac
Since you are all talking about the new LS tech. I thought I'd mention my
latest findings on current LS technology. I now have a TRD clutch type LS
in the front of my 90 4Runner and a TrueTrac in the rear. The TRD was used
and rebuilt with a new clutch pack before install. Now, it performs almost
like a spool... takes pavement to make it slip. Basically in lock mode at
all times unless it gets LOTS of resistance from the ground (Pavement). And
of course I have manual hubs so it never gets used on pavement!
Unless the clutch packs wear fast and make the TRD unit slip more, I'm
surprised more of you have not gone that rout instead of lockers? So far it
has never slipped off road.
Does anyone have any experience with the TRD LS (Also sold by Downey under ?
name).
On the other hand the TrueTrac only works if there is a lack of resistance
and or the tire is up and the E brake on (but this works well in an auto).
Nice unit and totally seamless on road in 2wd.
Just my nightly ramble...
