Subject: Welcome message
Below is the welcome message I put together. I really didn't want to go
over board with the rules, but let me know if you feel I left something
important out. (email me directly at swilson@4x4wire.com, not the
list)
Thanks,
Scott

Welcome to 4x4Wire's Toyota List!
To post to the list, email your message to <toyota@4x4wire.com>
- ----------------------------------------------------------------
This list is available in two flavors, a digest mode, and real-time.
DIGEST MODE: Messages that get sent to the list are stored up until
the file reaches a certain size. Then a large email containing many
posts is sent to you. In this mode you will get at least one email
each day, but on busy days you may get several emails.
REAL-TIME: For each email that gets sent to the Toyota List you will
get one email sent to you. This should only be used by very active
list users, as it may amount to a hundred or more messages a day.
To SUBSCRIBE to the Toyota list, send an email to
<majordomo@4x4wire.com> and include one of the following in the
message body: (do not include the []'s in your message)

- ------------------------------------------------------------------
This list is provided by 4x4Wire.com as a tool for Toyota 4x4 owners
on the internet. The list is free for you to use. We only ask that
you abide by some simple rules.
I could not possibly write a list of rules to cover every situation
that will arise on this list, so I ask that you abide by the spirit
of the rules, and do not give the list Administrators a hard time
when then need to step in. The list Admin job is thankless as well
as profitless, so cut them some slack. These rules will grow as
needed. (If everyone keeps to the spirit of the rules it won't be
needed)
First rule: 4x4Wire will never try to claim copyright to what you
say on this list.
Advertising of a commercial nature is not permitted on the list.
Vendors who subscribe to the list are ENCOURAGED to participate in
technical discussions. Vendors may participate in discussions about
their products as long as they keep it factual, do not bash their
competition, and just generally keep their emotions out of the
discussion. New product announcements are acceptable, but don't let
this turn into advertising.
Vendor bashing by non-commercial members of this list will also not
be tolerated. Keep it factual, please.
Personal stuff stays personal. This list is not a place to air dirty
laundry. Enough said.
TECHNICAL RULES:
Do not post HTML or MIME messages to the list. Only send plain
text emails to the list.
Do not send messages with 'return receipt requested' turned on.
Do not send attachments to the list... again, plain text only.
If your mailbox fills or your ISP goes does down and messages start
bouncing back to the list, expect to be unsubscribed. You may
resubscribe when the problem is cleared up. If this happens too you
often you may not be permitted to resubscribe.
