RE: JPOR: T18?
I had less than $350 into my t-18 which I completely rebuilt. But I took
the cheap way out. I got a t18/19 master rebuild kit on ebay for $25
(actually 2 of them).
If you are a major cheapass like me, skip the AA or Novak adaptor and find
an unwanted close ratio scout t-18. You can use the adaptor and rear shaft
from that. You just need to drill the holes in the back of the ford or jeep
t-18 to bolt the adaptor to.
Total cost for my swap:
$100 - 79 wide ratio Ford t-18
$125 - Scout close ratio t-18
$ 50 - All new bearings and thrust washers (It was apart, so what the hell)
$ 22 - special pilot bushing from Novak
$ 25 - Machining of front bearing retainer to fit my Buick bell housing

That's a T18. It looks just like the one I am currently putting in my Jeep.
I bought it for $650 and rebuilt it because it had evidently had water in it
at one time. The rebuild parts cost around $150. I'm interested in the
stick shifter on the Dana 20 that one has. Mine is real short and it is a
bit of a reach to get. I wonder how hard it would be to lengthen it?

Take a look at the picture on this item

Claims to be a t18 out of a 78 cj for the princly sum of $600.
Isn't this a t-19? Or does the jeep version of the t-18 have the PTO port
on the left side?
