JPOR: GM 10 Bolt Axle

I've heard that the dimensions of the front GM 10 Bolt and the front GM Dana 
44 are similar.  Are the knuckles interchangeable (like dana 44's and newer 
dana 30's)?  

Also, in a recent breakdown of a front 10 Bolt, I was surprised (among other 
things) to find the pinion gear was larger in diameter than the D44 gears I 
had.  Everyone boots these axles.  What is its weakness?  Is it the housing?
