Re: JPOR: Wagoneer Rear Dana 44

The SJ's used D44 rears from '63-'79 and late '86-'92. All are centered EXCEPT
the '74-'79's with Quadra-Trac. Some of the '74-'79's with the Dana 20 are also
offset, but some are not. You probably won't find a Wagoneer in the '74-'79
spread without QT, but you can find Cherokees (Narrow Track & Wide Track) and
J-truck with the Dana 20. The '63-early '70 models will have lower spline count
and 2-piece axles, but the late '70-'73 models will be 1-piece, 30 spline axles
and 5x5.5 lug pattern. The late '86-'92 Wagoneers will have the centered D44
with 1-piece, 30 spline axles and 6x5.5 lug pattern.

As has already been mentioned, there is nothing wrong with the '80-early '86
AMC 20 used in the SJ's. These don't have any of the weak points of the CJ
version.
