I thought that as long as your transfer case had a neutral position that it
was not necessary to remove the rear drive shaft while flat towing. I have
a Dana 20.

your turning the upper portion without driving the lower portion (IE 2 hi or
neutral) because you haven't engaged those gears. Not turning the lower
portion
keeps oil from circulating in the t-case.
