RE: JPOR: Reducing a spring pack

Someone else sent in a message saying that they used two sets of rear
springs on their set up. What is involved with this? Did you have to
relocate the spring hanger due to the longer spring? We are probably going
to remove some leafs soon to make it less springy. 4WD and Hardware said
that the fiberglass bodies reduce the weight about 200 lbs. I think it is
reduced a lot more than that. Does anyone else know any better?

Most certainly. Been there - done that on my fiberglass CJ7. Remove
springs
and remove the center pin/bolt holding the packs together. You can then
yank
any one that you want. I would suggest keeping the second spring in place
just
to help prevent the main leaf from breaking. Also try to keep the ones with
the
clips that keep the springs from rotating. I'm down to 3 in the front and 3
in
the back out of a 4" lift spring pack! I still have about 2" or so of lift
in
rear and 1.5" in front. I have a Chevy 350 up front too. I should go to
some
2.5" lift springs from OME or National, but the funds aren't there right
now.
Eventually......

But that should help.
