I used a portable band saw to trim a little and then cleaned it up some
with a 4.5" angle grinder.  I really didn't remove much, but it did end
up being about 1/4" and noticeably smoothed the bottom.  I did not get
into any bolts.  I had to trim a little off the bottom of the cover to
keep it above the bottom of the housing too.  It is trimmed to be right
up to the head of the lowest bolt and then parallel to the tubes across
the bottom.  I could probably remove more if I wanted, but I think I'll
leave it as is.  Jeff
