JPOR: Spring over steering
Ok with all this talk about front axles it's gota lead to this. Spring over steering
Question one: Does anyone have the web sites that sell the spring over arms? I have searched parts mike and can't find anything. Any web sites would be nice!
Question two: How do you make your own? Key point is how do you make the hole for the drag ling and the three bolts that hold on the arm (Chevy style)? I would guess that you need a tapered drill bit and a tapered reamer, however if the two are a different size that's a lot of money on drill bits and reamers!
Question three: Any write-ups on this? I have read John's nice article (even know the machinist) but would like to find an article with the Chevy arms installed.
Question four: Is there a difference between the Ford, Jeep and Chevy tie rods? I have seen 7-8 degrees but can't find out much else. Also, never ask this to a young parts guy, they just look at you.
Side note: I saw a chrome high steering arm two weeks ago in Farmington, MN. I can't believe anyone would do that.
