As others mentioned, make sure it's the column....but if you want to rebuild,
I recently rebuilt mine, but not from a kit - no full kit is available.
Leon Rosser has most of the parts: http://www.thinkjeep.com/ , as well as
Specialty Parts has all of them: http://www.specialtyparts.com/. You either
need the part number or the real OEM name of the part.
The parts you need will run about $50 to $75 tops, depending if it's Tilt
column or not, if you want to replace the turn switch & ign switch while
you're in there, etc. If you have a FSM, it's VERY helpful with the parts
blow-up and listing for the column. There are no real good instructions
either, and much of the re-assembly is very counter-intuitive. Still, it's
possible, even tough I had to call a mechanical engineer friend for
re-assembly help!
