RE: JPOR: left turn, stall
To check the accuracy of the sending unit, fill up the tank and set the trip
odometer to 0. Then when it reads 3/4 full, fill it up again and calculate
the mileage you are getting. Reset the trip odometer and drive until it
reads 1/2 full. Then fill up the tank and recalculate the mileage. If the
results of the mileage seem to be very off, it is probably the sending unit.

Subject: JPOR: left turn, stall
****************Please Remember to snip your replies***************
I pulled the tank on my '88 wrangler, because it was stalling whenever
the gas tank got near 1/2 empty. It was missing the fuel strainer on
the sending unit, so I found a generic replacement. Now the Jeep only
stalls near 1/4 of a tank of gas, on a left turn. My question is: is
this a design flaw in the tank and sending unit, or will a replacement
of the sending unit fix this problem? I don't want to replace the
sending unit if that is not the problem, and also because a new one is
$150!
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Kevin
