I've had really good luck with Hammerite on gearboxes.  It comes
in tons of colours and a few textures.  My advice - stick with
the "smooth" type, and give it a couple of coats.  It's a lot
cheaper than POR15 and (here, anyway) much easier to find.  Plus
you don't need any primer - in fact, it'll work better with a
little surface rust.  YMMV of course,
