RE: JPOR: painting cast iron Dan300
The best stuff for underneath is POR15. It forms an extremely hard surface
and bonds to metal so well that it is resilient to chipping. I think there
was a write up in one of the 4wheel drive magazines. You can get it in
black or silver, and there is some now that is UV stable. It paints on real
easy, just follow the instructions. A guy sells it locally (to me). His
phone number is (302) 328-5547.

I need to paint my Dana300 tcase to keep it from rusting. I stripped all
the old grease & paint off a few months ago and the tcase has been sitting
exposed outside. Two nights ago we received the first rain in ages (arizona)
and I noticed that the tcase quickly started to develop surface rust from
that sprinkling. A little WD40 and it wiped right off.
Any particular paint to use on cast iron?
Regards,
Larry
