JPOR: FSJ axles

I saw on jeepwire.com that you put full width FSJ axles on your jeep.
That is what I want to do, but I am going to use CJ springs and move the spring mounts out. I had a few questions, can you just cut down the tierod to match the steering box to make the steering work? I have a set of Revolver shackles and thought about a shackle reversal. How hard is that to do after the springs are outside the frame?
I have a 78' CJ-7 with a 401 if you wanted to know. Any help would be appreciated.
