Re: JPOR: GPS question
Garmin sells 6 different maps for the GPS III Plus. The best one for wheelin
is the Topo map. You will no be able to upload much to the GPS III Plus
since you cannot buy a 8 mb or 16 mb chip for them. It has I believe 2.5 or
4 mb of memory, so you really only get to load a small bit of info. (no pun
intended ;o) I don't even think you can uplaod the maps they have, mostly
waypoints and other info. You may be able to upload a small map, I'm not
positive. I like the EMap best, you can buy the chips for it.

got
one). Got a Garmin GPSIII+ quite happy with it.
Any one have one of these? Use any of the software maps to upload? Is
MapSource from Garmin the best one? I checked out Delorme's TopoUSA (a
sponsor of outdoorwire.com) and it looked good too.
With so many gosh-darn choices in our lives, you'd think some are easy!
