Re: JPOR: GPS question

Mo-
I have the MapSource Topo and Roads/Recreation CDs for use on my Garmin Emap,
which has about the same map display as the III+
I am pretty happy with both CDs. The topo one was particularly cool while in
Moab, where the topography is actually visible as compared to here in
Wisconsin.
The Roads/Recreation is nice for the travelling aspects in that it shows things
like tourist attractions and state parks as well as street detail.
If you plan to use it in the XJ as well as the CJ, you might consider an
external antenna.
I've found that in heavily wooded areas, my Emap doesn't do so well, but out in
the open, there is plenty of signal through the windows.
With my Emap, I was under the impression that the MapSource were the only ones
that would work. If you look more at the Delorme, make sure that the actual
map data is downloadable into the GPS's map memory as well as just being able
to view/create waypoints and tracks superimposed on the map on your computer.
