I thought of that but not till I was on the road leaving the place. It
is still in the truck and on the ground, but from what I could tell, the
inside of the housing didn't look too bad...Not all pitted and rusted.
However, even if it has the caps lying there, how do I get them back on
right...unless they are marked. I'm just fishing here. I might not do
anything, but it does sound like a pretty cool project. I am concerned
about fitting bracketry for the xj 4link on the axle tube. The housing
extends quite far onto the tube because of the spring pad. I imagine I
would have to weld my bracketry partially to the tube and partially to
the case where it wraps the tube. I don't think there would be a
problem with housing warpage that far away from the dimentionally
important area and a rod designed for dissimilar metals would probably
work fine, but it is an issue. Jeff
