Besides the possibility of journal interferance, most auto engines won't allow
pistons to come out the bottom since the fit at the bottom of the bore is very
tight since the piston never goes that far down.

Your local rental shop should have one. I'd highly recommend it because it
keeps the top of the cylider bore round. Next to impossible to do with a
Dremel tool/die grinder.

As the others said... life will be much easier with one.
