JPOR: Main bearings

No, the numbers in the TSM are correct. It uses those numbers all
over the place, and it also lists available bearings as being .001,
.002, .010, or .012" undersized.
I'll try to get my hands on a micrometer to double check the main
bearing journals.
I yanked the rod bearings today. The clearance on all 8 of them is
.003", which is just barely outside the .001-.0025" spec. More
importantly, the rod bearings all have severe wear and some scoring
on them. As with the main bearings, the crankshaft journals all
look & feel just fine.
Question: what color are the rod bearings when new? Is the copper
color the top layer or one of the inner layers? My rod bearings all
have varying amounts of copper & steel color showing. Most have very
little copper. Does this mean that most of them are terribly worn,
or that most of them are barely worn? My main bearings are mostly
copper colored with a few areas of steel color showing.
