Just pick up tie rod stock in whatever length you need from a local street
rod/race car/4WD shop that does lots of custom work to people's rigs. The two
4x4 shops near me out here in the country (and I live ~70 miles outside the big
city) carry the stuff in lots of lengths and can get it in whatever special
length you want with a day or two's notice. It can be had in stock mild steel
or in 4130 chrome-moly. 4130 is stronger and harder to bend, but once it does
bend, it doesn't like to bend back without breaking or really stressing. Mild
steel will bend easier, but you can bend it back without breaking it... though
it likely will like to bend there again... and you can bend it back again.
