I think you mean that it has 8 wheel lugs. There is *probably* still
only six 3/8-24 bolts holding on the spindle. I've seen several 3/4 ton
Dana 44s stripped and they all had the same spindle mounting pattern as
a 1/2 ton and could be converted back and forth just by swapping outers.
There are soem odd balls out there though, I know Dodge 3/4 ton Dana 44s
from the mid '70s had the wierd semi-float bearings even when they had 8
wheel lugs.
