Forced to modify ;)

Lunched my Dana 35 ring and pinion two weeks ago. Picture of the ring gear is
at:

http://www.wagoneers.com/JEEPS/FESTS/Snohomish-April2-2000/PIC00010.JPG

What happened, you ask? Well, turns out the rear cover had a hairline crack
and the oil had leaked out. The junk you see in the ring gear teeth is melted
pinion. :^O

So this was the perfect excuse to swap in a Dana 44 and some lower gears. I
chose to go with a Scout rear axle (it was free) and do a knuckl yoke swap up
front so it will accept Dana 44 knuckles and brakes and also allow me to have
the same bolt pattern wheels front and rear (5x5.5"). I'll be writing an
article on this swap for Jeepwire.com and I'll post a link when the article is
finished and posted - if John doesn't beat me to it.

I'm going from 4.10/4.11 (F/R) gears to 4.56/4.55 (F/R) so now I have a set of
4.10 reverse-cut Dana 30 gears for sale for $80, if anyone is interested (will
work for any MJ, XJ or YJ. Obviously (if you've clicked on the link above) the
4.11 Dana 35 gears are useless. I need to take the low-ratio carrier and
Lock-Right in to the shop and see if they are still OK, or if the heat from the
gear failure ruined them. If they are OK, I'll be selling them, too.
