We are having some problems completing the engine/tranny swap, and was
hoping somebody could help us with an issue concerning the fuel filler
hose.
Since mentioning all the details will just confuse the issue, I'll try
to keep this short. Since we pulled the stock tank and associated hoses
out, and found them to be in bad shape, we are looking to replace the
tank and hoses. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to find any
suppliers who carry a fuel filler and vent hose for a '76-77 CJ-5.
Specifically the type where the vent hose runs into the filler hose just
before the filler neck. So far we have tried: Rosser, 4WD Hardware,
Quadratec, and Napa. We don't see why they have the hoses for pre '76,
and post '77, anybody know what the problem with these years is?
As we are replacing the fuel tank anyway, a newer style filler neck
could be used, but they cost over $90, so does anyone have one laying
around in their garage that they would like to get rid of?
Our last option is running a universal filler hose with no filler vent.
Since it was hard to fill the tank without gas spitting back out before,
we don't see how it could be any worse. Anyone have any ideas/comments
on this option?
Thanks,
Stacey (and Jim) Barlow
