I was trying to fuel inject a 231 a while back and gave up on the idea
(I ended up just swapping in the whole 4.3), the 231 doesn't have an
injection system factory (3800's do but they have the metric bellhousing
pattern rather than the standard BOP) and the TBI for the 4.3 is the 3
bolt system that chev uses (i.e. it won't bolt on to a standard
manifold). The 3800 uses different heads so you can't just swap across
the fuel injection from it either (although it would be cool to have
coil packs rather than a distributor). If I remember right you have a
TH400 (I could be wrong though), you could find a Chev TH400 housing and
swap the guts from you buick TH400 into it and you'd have a TH400 that
would bolt up to a 4.3 (nicer engine anyway) and still bolt to you
t-case.
Later,
Ben.
