RE: JPOR: Manual tranny advice
I have a Hesco MPI damper kit for sale. It's for the 4.0L and I decided to
go with a 302 mustang engine instead. Also, if you go with a T-18 Parts Mike
sells the adapter and output shaft for $450.00, cheaper than AA. I also have
a T-150 bellhousing that will bolt right up to the 4.0L and the Ford 2wd
T-18. That's the tranny you're looking for. Skip the 4wd stuff. I run a
Ford 2wd T-18 on my Wrangler with the AA stuff, works great. When looking
for a T-18 look for 360 and 390 engines for sale. Ask them if they have the
manual tranny still. That's how we found nutter's T-18 a couple of weeks
ago.

You can get a a kit from Hesco that would move your CPS to a
bracket on the
front of the engine. You would have to buy a harmonic
balancer from them
too.

I'm kinda looking at this same thing myself.
A friend of mine has done the sm420 swap - you don't mention
if you have a 4
banger or a 6 cyl or whatever. I know that with the 4
banger, you can use
the bellhousing from an s10 pickup and have it machine for
the CPS. If you
have a 6 cyl or other engine, then you pretty much have to
get the
bellhousing from Advance Adapters - pricey.
