RE: JPOR: Which 115V MIG welder?
Hi Chuck - I've got the Cambel Hausfield model 105. It's a full mig welder,
and comes with everything but the bottle of gas - even comes with the
regulator & helmet. It has a starter spool of flux core wire, so you don't
need the gas if you want to get started immediately. It says that 3/16's is
the most it can weld, but to be honest, it doesn't have a problem with
quarter inch. I've built a tire carrier & custom bumper with it. It's real
easy to use. Got it at Lowe's for something like $300.

Subject: JPOR: Which 115V MIG welder?

I know this has been discussed in the past, but I need a refresher course.
I'm thinking about adding a 115v MIG welder to my arsenal. It will be used
for
various Jeep related things like spring perches, a tire carrier, etc. I'd
like
to be able to weld up to 1/4" if possible. Duty cycle isn't really an
issue,
I've got a lot of time on my hands. :-) I've seen various models from
Miller,
Hobart, etc, but I'm not sure how to evaluate a welder that I've never used.
I'm trying to keep my budget in the $500 range, including the MIG kit that's
required for some of the welders I've already seen.
Also, I already have an old Lincoln stick welder if I need to weld anything
that's thicker than 1/4".
Thanks in advance,
Chuck
