Absolutely! Ladder bars like that work fine, but there's a few
reasons why I've pretty much decided against using one myself:
1) I'm too cheap to buy one off the shelf, and it's easier to make
control arms using off-the-shelf tubing and rod ends than it is to
make a ladder bar.
2) It's hard to adjust a ladder bar, if you need to change the angle
for any reason once you've welded it on. With control arms, I can
easily wind the rod ends in or out a few threads to tweak my pinion
angle as my springs sag (or whatever).
3) As Larry said, ladder bars get in the way of angling your rear
shocks inboard, which is a good way to fit longer shocks in a Jeep.
They can also interfere with your exhaust, e-brake cables, etc.
4) I can re-use my control arms in a 4-link coil or airbag suspension
later on. And that, my friend, is the ultimate solution to axle wrap!
