It was bad enough with the 4.2L engine and the 43:1 crawl that I broke
rear driveshaft parts more than once. On steep, loose slopes, the thing
hopped pretty bad and was just a PITA to deal with.

Now, with the 5.0L-HO and 135:1 crawl, I'm keeping it away from the
tough stuff until I've got some traction bars installed. No-brainer.

What I've got in mind is a pair of 3' fixed-length lower control arms
running from under the rear axle tube to points on the frame in front of
the forward spring mounts. I think that if I pick the upper mounting
points right, then the arcs that the lower mounting points of the arms
will travel will be pretty close to the natural paths of those points
(ie. without the arms installed)... so there shouldn't be much binding.
The arms will be 1.5" DOM tubing with 3/4" tractor top-link rod ends.
