Door hinge question....those that swap out using a pin
      04/18/07 10:30 AM

For those of you that have drilled out the hinge for ease of removing/swapping doors, what style of pin are you using? How is it holding up?

The reason I ask..I drilled them out 2 years ago for my half doors. I used a 3" 3/8" bolt, just cut off the threads and tapered the smooth part of the bolt. This has worked fine, however I have noticed that my doors don't have a good feel. They feel sloppy, and when closed I can hear the clanking of the hinge.

So I am trying to find if maybe putting in a new clevis pin, or using a threaded bolt with a nut to help tighten up the sloop in the door would help.

Anyone have the same problem and been able to fix it?
