Gear break in......?
      03/09/07 12:23 AM

Soooo....I finally broke down and bought new gears and a rear locker for the Shag-Runner.. I bought a fully assembled rear E-locker with 4.88's and a set of 4.88 Yukon gears for the front...all from Marlin Crawler....should all be here in 2 weeks.

The big question I have is about gear break-in. How do you break-in the front gears? I'm reading that I should drive the truck "softly" for 500 miles. Doing shorted 15 to 20 mile drives and allowed things to cool down often....and changing the fluid at 500 miles too. That's all find and dandy for the rears....but I'm not sure I even have 500 4-wheel-drive miles on my truck.

Is there a different procedure for breaking in the front diff gears?
