Re: Engine/Tranny/Transfer Case Swaps

As the only person to have done both swaps(that I know of), I will go on record, and say that the 2.6 turbo was very very powerful. Once that turbo spooled up, it was totally awesome. The sounds it made were the coolest thing ever. Blow off valve, and turbo spooling... I mean cmon. Nothing cooler than that.

My main problem with the 2.6 was the volitvity of it, and the complication of wiring, and ancient EFI.

Say you need a tad of throttle to get over an obstacle...OK well.. you have 2 choices. 30 hp idle, or press the gas, and put the engine under a load, and the turbo spools up, and you get 150 hp. It just did not make power off idle like I wanted for an offroad truck.

THAT being said. If I ever get ahold of a 4wd Ram50.... It's gonna be on. 295/60's all the way round, MPI turbo 2.6, huge Intercooler, stall converter, lowered.... you get the idea.
