thanks for the help, this morning the car jump started but then it would cut out when I tried to back out of the driveway(I guess the battery was completely dead and couldn't even power the engine). We had it towed to the repair shop(AAA so it's free) and they tested it and the alternator is bad and all the belts were bad(I don't even know when they were ever changed.)
It should be done later today.
