As noted above, the new ‘Isuzu’ pick-ups have failed to receive the D-MAX’s selection of engines… most notably, there is NO oil-burner in the line-up – instead, they are only available with what GM is offering here in the (step-)sister Canyon/Colorado models.
Moreover, our US ‘Isuzus’ failed to get the D-MAX’s smoother body lines as well… Sadly (to me, anyway), the Canyon/Colorado ‘Spock Eyebrow’ front and rear fender treatments have carried straight over.
Basically – the Isuzu D-MAX was cloned by GM for the American market, to be sold by Chevrolet & GMC (with a few very key things being lost in the translation)… Then, while rolling down the assembly line, they have allocated some of these clones to pose as Isuzus – slapping the appropriate badges on them – assuming (presumably) that no one here would be able to discern the difference…
But those of us who are aware of the existence of the D-MAX are not fooled.
