Ok, since the topic has already gone the injection route, the GM TBI is relatively painless, COMPARED to otehr swaps..in fact, PAINLESS does make a kit for swapping these into other vehicles...
Now, which tranny are you wanting? T400, T350, 700R4, manual?
Knowing exactly what you want, will make this so much easier.
Carbs, the Q-jet, is probably the best "OEM style" carb there is for off-road...most poeple dotn like them, because most have problem rebuilding them... though, I am comparing this against Carter, Holley, and Edlebrock...
If you just wanta 400 tranny, sure, go with the carb... THOUGH, I know 1 ton trucks came with a 350 TBI, with a T400... so the harness is avail...
