Taking apart the donor block (sbc 350) for the Cobalt 18'er a friend and I have partered up on (original engine with only 300hrs got frozen - cracked the block top and bottom on both sides and busted a 3"x4" diamond out of the lifter valley on one side, cracked the other).

We picked up a complete 79 unbuilt block and I was taking it apart. One head I had to use a slide hammer to get the pushrods out. Looked like a Quaker State motor, jam full of black fudge. Had to use the slide hammer type lifter remover to get the lifters out.

One head came off easy. The other one would NOT turn loose. I was whanging it with a 4lb brass hammmer with a pry on one end when it jumped loose and fell right on by left big toe. The Red Wing boots may have saved me a break, but it's black and blue and even more ugly than usual and I can neither stand on it to kick my butt, nor kick my butt with it...

I hate being stupid. I hate it even worse that I'm slowing down enough not to be able to get my toe out of the way. Y'all be careful out there...
